What is the difference between expat and long term health insurance?

You may have heard about or recently spoken with us about our Long-term health insurance option, which can be considered as an extension to our Expat health insurance.

While related, these two products serve different needs and stages in a person’s time in Europe.

Think of long-term health insurance as the next step for those who may not be able to use Expat health anymore and are not yet eligible for the public or private health insurance in their new country.

Here are some examples of those who would most benefit from this policy:

  • Those who have been on short-term expat over 5 years and are not yet eligible for the national public or private health

  • People applying for a visa/permit renewal who aren’t eligible for the national public or private health

  • Those who want more coverage than what Expat health can offer, but don’t want to or can’t get onto the natioanl public or private health

Now, let's break down some further differences between to the two to give you an overview.
