How does the video doctor service on expat health work?

Expat health policyholders have access to video consults with a general or specialist doctor. The icing on the cake is that there is no €25 copay fee for these appointments!

Here we will take you through the steps on how to use this exciting feature.

What is it?

This service provides two free Telehealth consults with a doctor per year. The service has over 700 doctors (including both general practitioners, as well as specialists) and is offered in both German and English.

It allows customers to have a virtual consult with a medical doctor with minimal waiting times.

How many consults do I have?

Basic policy holders: 1 per year

Premium policy holders: 2 per year

How does it work?

You would simply:

  • Click the book video doctor appointment button in the email you received regarding this service

  • Answer the short questionnaire on the MD Medicus website (the video doctor service) which asks for information including:

    • Policy number - you can find this under your expat policy in your Feather account

    • The nature of your medical issue (so you can be matched with the appropriate medical doctor)

    • Preferred language

    • Email address

    • Preferred date and time for your appointment - you can select immediate appointment or a later date and time

  • You will then receive an email from MD Medicus with a link for your appointment including the confirmed date and time.

What happens after the appointment?

You will receive an online invoice from MD Medicus, which you can submit as per usual through the claims link in your Feather account. As always, please pay the invoice up front.

How do I check if I am eligible for this service?

Firstly, we would like to clarify that this would be for customers who do require medical assistance, with a condition that meets the usual expat coverage criteria. Expat coverage is for new conditions that started after insurance cover began, and not relating to any pre-existing conditions or a routine check up. Additionally, you would need to be outside the waiting period (first 31 days of the policy) to access this service.
